In 2003, L.A. session guitarist Charles Crews was working with Manila based radio personality and concert promoter Steve O’Neal. O’Neal had expressed great interest in bringing the Cascades to the Philippines and other Asian markets, but was under the impression that the group might have indeed died in a plane crash, as rumored. Not so. in 1994, the Cascades had asked Crews to perform with them at the Greek Theater in Los Angeles. Thereafter, they had performed on a TV show entitled “Legends Live”, and had done considerable recording together. Crews introduced Steve O’Neal to John Gummoe. A tour was set, and Gummoe called long-time Cascades veterans Gabe Lapano and Tony Grasso. Charles Crews stayed on as guitarist/vocalist, and the Cascades once again sprang to life with a purpose.

Before rehearsals began, the Cascades compiled some of their more recent recordings, including a lush, new “adult contemporary” version of “Rhythm of the Rain”, along with other quality compositions by Gummoe and Lapano. The CD, appropriately entitled “After the Rain”, was released on the Cascades’ Lightning label, and immediately picked up for distribution by EMI.

After two Asian tours, the Cascades returned to the studio in February 2006, and emerged in June with the critically acclaimed “All the Way to Yesterday”, produced by Crews for Lightning and distributed by Warner Music. The title tune (click here) was written by John Gummoe and Cascade co-founder Len Green. Armed with “All the Way to Yesterday”, in June and July 2006 the Cascades did their third Asian tour in two years. Stay tuned for highlights, press reviews and more.
